Bungle Jungle Baby Quilt

I've got another adorable baby quilt to share with y'all!  This quilt is going to live with a new baby boy due in May.  Derek works with his mother and I previously made her a Tshirt quilt.  The nursery is themed in both jungle and sports to appease everyone (but I picked jungle!).

I finally use a pattern from a book (because I have a mini quilting library), Fresh Fabric Treats, using the pattern from the cover.  One of my lovely bloggers, Rachel Griffith designed this pattern and then I combined it with a border design from a different pattern.

The fabric used is from a new line, Bungle Jungle by Tim & Beck for Moda.  I managed to snag this fabric from some dark corner of the internet that had it for sale already.

I just love these stars!

I backed the quilt with this flannel from Connecting Threads.  It has letters and animals for the new baby to learn and play 'I Spy' with.

Washi tape & Quilting

Last week I fell in love with washi tape.  Washi tape is gaining steam in craft communities for its versatility.  Washi tape is basically masking tape made from patterned tissue papers, so the tape is both adorable and can adhere to anything and removes with no markings. I found washi tape at Target and began to stick it to everything.

This weekend I sat down for a little down time sewing, sewing without any deadlines.  A few weeks back I had cut all the fabric for a new quilt.  The pattern is the first pattern, French Kisses, from the lovely Tracey Jay and the fabric is Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket.  I think this is going to be an adorable quilt!

So much to say

Oh my goodness, I feel like I have so much to tell you.  Has it really only been two days since I last posted?

1.  We have some gorgeous flowers on the dining room table that some friends brought over when we cooked them dinner last weekend.  They started pretty, of course, but over the last couple of days the lilies have blossomed.

But then again, I love neons.

2.  Today was a phenomenal mail day!

First, I got some new nail polish that GMA was featuring last week.  Evidently Zoya is a growing brand that is the new "IT" in nail polish.  I am really picky about nail polish [I dislike Essie when everyone else seems to love it] and I am loving this new polish.  Its usually pretty pricey [3 colors for $24] but they were half off [3 for $12].  Right now I am sporting the tealy-blue.  Here's to hoping it doesn't chip too bad.  :)

Second, [well this really came in the mail on Tuesday] I got my winnings from the last Fab Shop Hop.  I finally got a store certificate that I found something to spend it on.  I got two half yards of fabric from an older Sweetwater collection, Sunkissed, and a Scottie pin cushion pattern.  The pink fabric is currently cracking me up because there are so many spelling errors in the fabric.  I have underlined two that I found.  Spellcheck anyone?!

Third, I got some Curious Nature from the Fat Quarter Shop.  On Wednesday, a bundle popped up for 2 pounds of Curious Nature for $24.  This worked out to be 5 yards of fabric for $24 [or $4.80 a yard]. Total steal!  The fabric came from the extras when they cut for quilt kits.

3.  I mailed out the Etsy commissioned quilt earlier this week, without taking very good pictures.  It should get delivered to its new house today!

4.  Here is a preview of a new project that will have more pictures in the future, but not too long future. :)  I am looooving this fabric group.

5.  I went finally quilted and bound and washed and finished the 'Its a Hoot' Queen quilt.  [Confession:  we slept under it for a week before I bound and washed it!]  I am/was going to fancier quilt in the zigzags but that is becoming more unlikely as the days go on.  I just echo quilted in the white zigzags and around the borders.

Phew, I think that's it.  Here's to hoping this weekend is as good as the past few days have been.

Pattern Testing

On Friday, the always inspiring Holly from Bijou Lovely, asked for pattern testers for her Colorblock Quilt pattern.  I, of course, voluteered.

She emailed me yesterday, when I was in the doctor's office with a sick Derek [bronchitis!].  So between yesterday evening and today I have whipped up this adorably quick quilt.

I have had some fat quarters of Valori Well's Nest line for over a year with no intended project and some Joann's fabric I purchased before I found the addicting world of designer fabrics.  In all of Holly's pictures, she sashed the quilt with white solid and so I decided to go a different way with Kona Earth.  This quilt is more neutral than anything I've done lately...or ever.  This quilt finishes at 40 x 55".

Holly's pattern made this quilt really quick to put together and I rather like the offset column.  Her pattern should be coming out pretty soon and I'd recommend it for a fast baby quilt.

I'm going to quilt this one and finish up the etsy quilt and have more pictures at the end of the week.
